A couple of months ago I connected and bound my new AR610 receiver to my new DX6i Transmitter. Everything worked just fine. Tonight I turned the receiver on and it won't power up. The battery lead feeding the receiver reads 4.84 volts; the receiver requires a minimum of 3.5 volts. I have tried connecting the battery lead to both the AUX and the BIND ports. No LED, nothing! Anybody have any ideas??

No, but I've had that happen with a brand new Spektrum RX. It's not Futaba, hence crap! lol If you don't get any help on here, maybe give the folks at Maritime Hobbies or MSC a call.

Polarity perhaps? the signal wire needs to be towards the center of the receiver, the black into the pin on the end of the receiver. just a guesss, but something to check.

That would be the first thing to look at for sure!

I have heard of spektrum browning out at that voltage, online. Just to be safe and rule it out, put 5v (ie through a BEC) through it and see what happens.

Ron's old, like me, so most likely plugged it in backwards. I've been known to do that once in a while.

1) Have power supply and receiver hooked up outside the plane.
2) disconnect all servos and leave receiver unpowered for a good 5 minutes
3) Plug power to receiver (only battery plugged in) - careful of polarity
3) plug in only 1 servo - careful of polarity
4) If no power on receiver, check polarity of your battery to receiver connection. Also make sure you're in batt slot on receiver (should not make a diff but...)
5) If light is on on the receiver, try binding the receiver following your radio/receiver procedure in your instructions
6) If still no power on receiver, switch w another receiver to see if light come on second receiver. If so - try to bind that receiver.
7) If second receiver binds and has power, it's you're previous receiver that is problem
8) If second new receiver also does not power up, go back to original receiver and swap batteries (as battery or battery receiver wire could be problem - rare but does happen)
9) Go back to step 3) w new battery and try that

Just reviewed your post above and wanted to confirm that you are connecting the esc to the receiver, generally to the throttle slot AND that you are inserting the BIND plug into the bind slot and then you are connecting the battery to the esc......you should now see the receiver LED flashing. Then with my DX8 I would hold down the bind button while turning on the TX and the system will proceed to bind within a few seconds and the flashing receiver led with go to a solid light. System is now bound. Remove the battery connection to the esc...pull out the receiver bind plug, turn off the Tx. Now turn on the Tx, connect the Rx battery and plug in a servo. Should work.

Hi Marc,
It was this sentence " I have tried connecting the battery lead to both the AUX and the BIND ports. No LED, nothing!" that has me wondering..since he did not mention inserting the actual bind plug.
Hope he gets this solved, It's hard to believe that the equipment suddenly went south..!

Bill, Marc, et al:
A few weeks post Christmas, I installed this receiver in my old Avistar 40 and bound it to my new DX6i (thanks Santa) with no problem whatsoever. All the control surfaces and the throttle linkage responded to the radio, so I just turned it off and set the whole thing aside to await spring. Last week, I went back to it thinking I would proceed with setting up the radio. That was when I found there was no apparent life in the receiver. If I remember correctly, from when I bound it to the radio, an LED in the receiver illuminated as soon as it received power, even before I bound it. This time no such light appeared.
Asa I write this I see an incoming email from Horizon so I better take a little detour and see if it's about my receiver. (Gone for a minute or two!) Back now, and sure enough, Horizon is sending a new AR610 free of charge. God is on His throne and I am blessed. Thanks to all who responded with advice and suggestions. I'm sure I'll be seeking further assistance when the new receiver arrives and I start messing with the new radio.

If you powered off the radio before the receiver, you may have to bind it again.
Radio - first on, last off
You are correct typically you should get a light when powered on if wires hooked correctly.

"you should get a light"......and that light will be "flashing" prior to binding.
My experience has been that if I get no light on the Rx, I switch the polarity of the power lead to the Rx, if still no light, I reach for another Rx.
..bottom line is "one must see the light, and it is written that the light will be flashing, until you are bound"..!

Maybe Dave hasn't seen the light, but Horizon sure has! New receiver arrived today. Thanks Horizon! It gets better... no charge and postage paid. Wow! Didn't know service like that existed anymore!

HH has great customer service. Countless genuine testimonials. Great company! I also hear that they are really good at honoring free replacements for Spectrum failures. They must do a lot of them.....
