I was initially looking at putting a Saito .65 in my Balsa USA Bristol M-1 Lately I'm been thinking of bumping up the engine power to a Saito .82 or .91 While sizing and trying to match engine holes on the engine mount, imagine my surprise in realizing that the Saito 65 (newer) has a larger base than a Saito .82 (older) or Saito .91 (also older) Anyone have any idea as to why?Just to recap, the engine mounting holes on newer Saito .65 are actually farther apart than the holes on the older Saito .65 and Saito .82

Cause I told Saito to do that, knowing it would mess you up! lol. They may have gone for a more over-square piston, less stroke, more bore, more compact head, less vibration, etc, etc.

The 65 is an older design. They redesigned the whole engine when they introduced the 72. The 82 is just a higher displacement version of the 72. The case on the 65 is the same as the older Saito 91, in fact it's heavier than the 91 because the 91 is bored out larger and therefore has less metal. Go figure!
Cheers!
