As you're aware we have three pairs of transmitters (DX5) and each pair has its own case
Over the past year we've had 3 antennas that needed to be repaired
It became apparent when I had to repair this last one that part of the problem lies with how the radios are transported and placed within the cases
Typically the case is carried by the handle and the radios are upside down. The problem with this configuration is that while we're carrying the case with the radios inside, the weight of the entire radio is on the antenna itself.
Therefore, to ensure reduce wear and tear on the antennas - the radios should be placed side by side in the case with the antennas facing the user so that the weight of the radios will be on their base and not the antenna when being carried
Hopefully this is not too confusing - when placing a transmitter in the carrying case, make sure the transmitter antenna is facing the user
Tks
PS: GREAT tip below;
How to Range Check a DX5
1. With the model resting on the ground, stand 30 paces (approximately 90 feet/28 meters) away from the model.
2. Face the model with the transmitter in your normal flying position and pull and hold the Trainer Switch (back left) while toggling the HI/LO Rate Switch (front right) four times. The LEDs will flash and the alarm will sound indicating the system is in range check mode.
3. While holding the trainer switch, you should have total control of the model with the Trainer Switch pulled at 30 paces (90 feet/28 meters).
