Problem Summary: Motor does not respond to the throttle, but all control surfaces respond normally.
Step by step: When I connect the battery, I get the normal four beeps from the motor, one long and three short same as always. When I turn my radio on and then switch the receiver on, I get the normal self-check routine in which all control surfaces cycle through their movements. Everything except the throttle responds to my stick movements. Battery is well charged and radio batteries are in the green. Motor shaft turns freely by hand; no burnt odour present. Motor is original equipment replacement from Horizon via mighty Small Cars, relatively new, Nov 15, 2014 and only lightly used since. Is it possible that the BEC side of the ESC can work and the motor side be cooked? Are there checks I can perform to determine whether the problem is motor or ESC? All ideas welcome.

Check your throttle trim setting - raise your throttle trim (beside throttle stick)
I seem to recall someone w same problems and is trim was too low

PS: Make sure your ESC cable in receiver is w correct polarity within receiver

Ron - the ESC portion could certainly be "fried" while the BEC portion (that provides +5VDC to the servos and receiver) could be functioning.
My thoughts: (1) Try a "fresh" ESC. These are standard 30 Amps. Nothing too special. This is easy if you have a spare.... (2) Validate the motor wiring between the ESC and the motor. Verify that the three leads are all connected. (3) What type of radio do you have? Dx5e that comes with the RTF version? If not, a more "advanced" radio can be configured for throttle hold and that will prevent the motor from running. If a computerized radio - check the "monitor" outputs to determine if the radio Tx is sending out the right throttle output. (4) The only other thing that I can think of would be the signal wire from the ESC to the radio.... but that is a REALLY long shot.

Noticed this is a replacement motor. Could whatever necessitated the replacement have damaged the ESC?
Also, maybe try a different power up sequence. I usually do the motor last

I think it's a curse, for flying something electric, on a 10,000 foot runway!

If one drive dies the other has the info, you just replace the damaged drive and the machine will self heal ...nothing lost! Or simpler yet have a backup drive and duplicate everything.

You know, there's always tons of adult material on the internet, no need to save it to a hard drive. . . . .
