Warbird over the Atlantic Sanction # 2016-305 MINIATURE AIRCRAFT SOCIETY OF TRURO Jul 2, 2016
Just trying to drum up more H&D representation for this upcoming event. Tired of hearing.."dam, gotta get there next year"...rather hear, "yup, going this year..!"
Started spreading the word yesterday, got several members interested....maybe meet at Truro Mickey D at 8am for breakfast, then hit the airfield..!
This is the Zone Director's annual event, and word is that this is his last year in this position, so let's make it one he will remember..!

I got one word for y'all:
GO!
It's a great event, and the only warbird one in the area. Highly recommended!

Wonder if I can paint my Funcub as an L4 in time ;-) You've already got a Cub that qualifies!

True. I'm still not a huge fan of the location, it's a bit tight, and there's no jets allowed, speaking for myself only, I still think Shearwater is the better locale. Huge paved runway, tons of camping space, MacDonald Beach recreation park right there, and easy access to the Shearwater Aviation Museum, full of cool warbirds. In my mind, it's a perfect fit.

It is, but Truro is more centrally located. I'm not particularly fond of the power lines off to the right of the field, especially since that time I "clotheslined" one of my foamy Wildcats there.

But the extra 40 minutes, gets you 10,000 feet of runway, Canada's largest RC field!

You're behind the times Dave, FYI, jets are now welcome at the field. And Regis picked truro because they were receptive to the idea and the central locale as cf105 said.

Glad to hear jets are a go. We've been super receptive to the idea the past four years, still think we're a bigger better fit, but hey, as long as people are having fun, all good.

Agreed, not really much competition when it comes to facilities. But on the plus side, we get to visit a grass field, and hang out with a bunch of warbird nuts.

Word is "the Hun" will be out in force, and Jim Lloyd's SE5A may be in dire need of backup!

In spite of the somewhat less than ideal weather forecast for today, the actual conditions in Truro were surprisingly good and the event was again a complete success.
The winds were variable but quite light at times in the morning and picked up to a moderate cross-wind later in the morning. Temperatures were very comfortable and there was no precip whatsoever for the duration of the event, only high overcast clouds to be seen.
SRCF representation was, unfortunately again this year, quite low - which is too bad, as it really is a great regional event.
