I was wondering what wood fillers and primers you guys like for balsa and fiberglass planes.

for glass, Canadian tire glaze and spot putty. Goes on thin and smooth, sands easily, light, and dries fast. For balsa, get a small tub of drywall compound.

There is light weight version available (spackling compound I think it is called), the regular drywall stuff is a lot heavier.

Dave, that in the auto section?
I have been using lightweight spackle. I find it needs a coating to seal and strenghen it. Normally seal with thin ca, but looking for alternatives.

I like to use Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Filler . Same color as balsa and sands well.

Yup, in the automotive section. Dries fast, super light weight, great stuff, but lots of powder when sanding, so have a small shop vac handy. Did I mention we have a shop vac for sale??

Nah, we're "filling" the post on fillers. We bought two Honda 2000's, that can run solo or in tandem, way lighter, and quieter.
