Okay, thanks Denis. I won't bring mine then (just my push mower and weed-wacker).

I was at the field today for between 2 -3 hours and got a good start on the weed whacking because I can't be with you tomorrow evening. Around the sheds, picnic tables, toilet and runway lights is done. I also did the main runway south to the yellow line and northward to the big X. I didn't get to the short runway beyond the main because I ran out of time.
BE AWARE THAT ACCESS TO THE FIELD MAY BE A LITTLE COMPLICATED TOMORROW. When I arrived today around 11:30 after picking up Key 41 as usual, I found the lock at the main gate would not open and there were signs of attempted forced entry. A shiny new lock of a different kind was in place, placed there, I assumed, by the MPs. I went back to the base, found the MPs and they very helpfully followed me back to the gate and unlocked their temporary lock. When I got to the next gate and released the padlock the gate fell flat on the ground, having been partially removed at the hinges. At that point a person from Base Security arrived and helped me stand the gate up against the fence and said he would have it looked after. Everything was normal at our gate. Upon departure around 2:30PM I had to get the MPs back to let me out and secure the place. The commissionaire knew nothing about this when he gave me the key at first. Bottom line is that you can save yourself a trip by rounding up an MP to let you in. Lots of fun!!

Thanks for the heads up Ron .....but you know that key 41 also opens more than just that gate.....there is another gate to the north of our normal entrance that leads out to the north end of the runway. (opposite Macdonald's beach, in the parking area)
I can't believe people would try and break in to the old runway. We have to make sure the padlocks are locked to all gates when ever the beach is open to the public as that is how I believe these people are gaining access to do things like this.

Are you referring to the gate used by the construction folks last year? I am aware of that one, however I did not check it yesterday.

Yesterday when the Base Security guy and I were dragging the fallen gate to one side, two carloads of people arrived heading for the beach. He very politely turned them around and pointed out the sign which clearly says the beach opens Wednesday. After the MPs let me in yesterday, they must have left the main gate open, because two cars exited behind me while I was waiting for the them to come and secure the place.

I'll be going in a little early to talk to the MPs before picking up the key and opening the gate for 3pm. I have to talk to them re this weekend anyway and I'll get an update on the gate.
I'll let everyone know what I find out at the field and for those that can't make it I'll post a short update here after I get home tonight.

I checked in with PSP today at the gym and found out that all the items I have requested will not be completely ready until Friday afternoon (10' x 10' gazebos) as they are out on loan to another club until then. Everything else I will be picking up Friday morning probably around 10 AM from the Shearwater gym. The only things not there are the Adirondack chairs and picnic tables. They are located at the beach , I have talked to the young girl running the beach and I can pick them up anytime after 11 am when they open to the public.
So here is my plan: I'm going to drop off my RV and the BBQ and Fun Fly Prize at the field early Friday morning then drive back to the Gym for 10 am and pick up the stackable chairs/ coolers/ foldable tables and hopefully a 20lb propane tank. I'll have to wait until after lunch some time to get the gazebos. That means JIMMY I won't need your help until after 11am when I need to pickup the picnic tables. I'll txt you tomorrow and confirm you have seen this post.
Field gates should be open for RV'rs arrivals after lunch Friday but I will guarantee 3pm at the latest as I will be setting up my own at that time.. If anyone wants to help setup things this is the timelines we are looking at, I guess I'll be the one drawing the key for the weekend as I should be at the field by 0900 Friday. FYI, I will be locking the gate when I leave the field to go to the gym for 10am unless one of the club members is at the field. It shouldn't be locked long.
Let the Fun Begin !!

Hello all; I just wanted to let you know that Denise & myself will be available during the fun fly to give a hand doing what ever has to be done. Just let us know the time & place and we'll be there. Unfortunately us working non retired types were not available during this week. So we feel a bit guilty. Please let us know what we can do. Scooterboy aka Kevin Baker.

Kevin M - looks like we won't need the BBQ or the propane tanks as Wilson's will be bringing their grill.
Kevin B. - thanks for your offer of help. It would be great if you could be at the field at around 0800 to help as required with last minute set-up and other odd jobs in the morning.
Thanks, guys!

Just show up NLT 0800 Saturday and we can put you to work ( ) seriously we need people to man the gate in shifts until 11:00 and help setup anything left to be made ready. Also selling tickets and registration etc. Red John has the BBQ (cooking) and may need an extra set of hands. There are plenty of things that we will need help with. Thanks

Weather has changed again and we are good for all day Saturday and Sunday up until noon before we see any significant showers . Heading for the field in a few moments, I'll be on my cell from now onward.
