Thanks for all your hard work Kevin, guys. The military need to learn to live with these crazy times. It's not going away anytime soon. Here's to hoping.

I'll second what Al says, besides I have a nice jet sitting here that really wants to fly there.

Hello Kevin, Hope all is well with you. Where does it stand with the club and indoor flying given the new NS rules due to Omicron COVID? Ed Wood

Sorry for the late response Ed. I have been having computer problems and just re-installed the OS. The club is now back in action for the spring. We have received permission to re-open the club from the Base commander in November. I have submitted a new key access list to the security section and have been able to get out to the field. If all goes well we will be able to open in the spring....BUT only to current and former (retired Military and DND employees) The Base commander currently is not allowing civilians on military property. That may change by spring if PSP keeps pressing the Commander.
As far as indoor is concerned the same rules would have applied Plus NS policy for indoor gatherings and that would have limited any indoor flying so PSP and I both agreed it would not be worth pushing for indoor this winter. If the Covid situation improves over the coming year , next winter (2022) we may be back to indoor flying in the gym. Hopefully with civilian members.

Hey all,
It has been a few months since I have posted here. Weather is getting very close to flying at Shearwater. Before that I need to touch base with PSP and verify DND will follow the provincial lifting of restrictions and what will remain for us at the field. I'll try and contact Matt at PSP and get an update this week. I can update the Key access list as soon as I find out who can draw it. At the moment only Executive are on the list and that list will expire on 22 April. If all goes as I expect I will update the list with all members that had paid for 2020 and never got to fly, that will give me a starting point and I can update the list from there.
As far as those that paid for 2020 I will consider you paid for 2022 as I cannot refund your money. Once we do start flying expect an AGM this spring.
I found out in late November the physical keys to open the gates has changed slightly. Locks are now colour coded, good news is that there is no effect for us. the crash gates to the active runways are now a different lock and key set, but our gate and MacDonald beach gate are the same old #34 key.
More to follow once I can get a hold of PSP.
Kevin

I still have the plane hold downs and a trainer at my house. I can only imagine the shape of the batteries after three years of sitting

Ya, were going to have to overhaul all the trainers prior to any flying of them. I'm currently in the process of cycling all my airplane and transmitter batteries, getting ready to fly soon. I normally find one receiver battery pak un-serviceable every spring.

OK HERE IT IS ...THE NEWS everyone has so patiently waited for. The club is open to all (Reg = Reg/Res/Foreign and retired Military Ordinary = Commissionaires/RCMP/NPF/MFRC and DND Public service Associate = Civilian) as we were prior to COVID. We have to follow provincial covid protocols, otherwise no restrictions. (see email I received a few minutes ago below)
I will be submitting a new Key access list soonest. Until we have a Paid membership for 2022 I will start with all those that had paid for 2020 and was never able fly. I will update shortly there after when I have additional names.
Now all we need is weather and an AGM meeting.
"Hey Kevin,
Sounds great. We are able to move forward with civilians within our programs as registrants (which they would be considered that in a club setting). That also includes indoor flying in the gym.
As for Covid restrictions I would just follow the provincial guidelines.
In terms of a refresher for deposits to the bank, I would refer to the NPF Accounting office and email zhang.lisa@cfmws.com. There is also this page that may provide some information: www.cafconnection.ca/National/Programs-Services/Recreation/Club-Resources/Templates.aspx
Excited to have you guys back and functioning. Let me know what else I can do.
Thanks,
Matt MacKenzie Community Recreation Coordinator | Coodonnateur des loisirs Communautaires PSP 12 Wing Shearwater | PSP, 12 Escadre de Shearwater"

Key assess is still not up and running (only Executive ) on list. I'm heading to Windsor Saturday to fly!! so this weekend is out for flying at Shearwater .....sorry. I know everyone is hot to get out but it will take a few more days to get everything in place. I'm working on Budget and AGM Agenda. I have reserved the Shearwater Gym Conference room for AGM just waiting on when Paul Quinn will be available (Vic is in California until mid May). AGM will have to be a weekday evening @ 5pm as Gym now closes at 7pm every day. PSP has gotten me a new receipt book in record time (one day). old one is just about empty. everyone download the 2022 membership form and fill it out and I'll be collecting them at the AGM (along with Dues)
Things are moving reasonably fast now please everyone be patient for a few more days.

I was about to submit the newest Key access list and realized after two years I need to re-verify all phone numbers before I submit it. Everyone who paid in 2020 will be on the list. also those persons will have free membership for 2022 in compensation for not be able to fly in 2020.
All those joining this year please go to the 'Applications and forms' section and fill out the membership form for 2022 and email it to me. Note** new requirement, I need to know what your flying status is on the back side of your MAAC card. ie Fixed wing pilot/student/instructor etc. I don't want any dues yet, I want to wait until /after AGM.
Those that don't have my email, just respond here and I'll Private Message you the address.

OK, the soonest we can have the AGM is Wednesday 13 Apr. I still need to touch base with Matt and ensure Gym conference room is not booked but I don't expect it is.
AGM will be held 13 Apr 22 in the Shearwater gym Conference room @ 5pm (gym closes at 7pm) so this is as late as we can push it, so as to allow working members to attend and still complete the meeting.
I will be taking membership forms and club dues at the end of the meeting. if you can't find the form online I will have some printed out and available at the meeting.
If you paid for membership for 2020 you are considered a current member and if you cannot attend the meeting you can fill out a proxy and email it to me. The current one in the 'applications and forms' section somehow was partially filled out for 2016 so I'm going to upload a new one shortly. (Done)

It was brought up at the Windsor field today about masks for the AGM. I haven't asked Matt but until I can get an answer from him, expect to bring and wear a mask to the AGM. By Monday I should have an answer to my email.
