I have been on the hunt for engines for my 104" Catalina. I need something reliable as I may try it out on water and carrying a rescue boat around with me isn't an option. I am very partial to 4 strokes but I have run into two problems. Number one is that the cowls are so close to the center that if I don't fudge the necelle positions I am limited to a 12" or 12.5" prop maximum. The other one is that the cowls are small, only 4.5" across and I don't want accessive amounts of engine sticking out taking away from her looks. I'm not at all sure what her weight will be but I suspect she will be heavier than I'd like. If only OS made a .6 cu. in. Wankel! Any ideas??

I'd have to take a look at my set of plans. 3 blade props are the way to go. If I recall, it calls for two 40-60 two strokes, LA 46s (OS) are stupidly reliable, and cheap. Nice and compact as well. OS 70 four strokes would be a great option as well. Unless you go electric, engines are sticking out, regardless. Side mount them for the least amount of visibility.
