I finally started building the bottom wing & remembered why I hated building wings on Sterling kits. The wings always had two spars. Front & rear. They had to be shaped & tapered in order to slide through the holes die cut into the ribs.(I think the makers of the kits had seperate dies for each rib as they never lined up or were the same size) But after much swearing & stomping I have one bottom panel done & the second almost done. Basically I have the botton wing just about done, just a lot of sanding to do. I broke almost every rib as the wood is 50 years old & a little more brittle than I thought, but we did it. Finish tonite & start the top wing Attachments:

Is the wood going to hold up to flying then? It's not going to be a Pinto and disintegrate the second it touches anything I hope! One of the worries I always have with older kits, condition of the balsa.

Nice trailing edge!
With original piece and plans it would be easy enough to replace a few weak pieces but a pain to have to duplicate most parts. I hope the former was the issue - if at all

It's been a few weeks, but I have set the Fokker aside untin Jan.
The store is busy, but the main reason is 50 year old wood and
breaking ribs. I am going to make up a new set of ribs for the top
wing which will make an easier build. That bottom wing drove me
nuts.
In the meantime I bought a set of scale Robart retracts for my
1/5 scale T-34 and started working on that for a bit.

I don't know, think you're supposed to have a separate build thread for the T-24! lol
