For the guys at the field today that saw my engine quit, I disassembled the engine when I got home, and this is what I found. The friggin wrist pin snapped in half. I guess evolution decided to use the "buttery metals" ;D in the crank. It's completely seized in the con rod. oh well, hopefully horizon will honor the warranty and replace it. Now to order a proper OS55 Hyper Attachments:

Wow, I have never saw an engine seize up that fast as I did today. It was a terrible sound

haha me either. That sound was the bottom of the con rod digging itself into the side of the crank case

Holy Crap! I don't know anything about the motor brand, other than we've got the 61 on theAlpha 60 Trainer. Scary.

I don't know anything about the airplane engines. This is the only evolution I have ran. But it might be worth while to take the backplate off and inspect the rod bushing to make sure there are no signs of failure. From looking at the damage, I'm surprised it didn't throw the rod. Must have snapped on an up-stoke.
I'm going to be running the Evolution 50cc engine soon in a new plane, but their gasser line is exactly the same as the MVVS line of engines. Needle bearings everywhere and actually really good quality.

had one of those revolution engines do exactly the same thing a while back on the trainer I built with the air cadets. It didn't have much time on it and one day just quit. Opened it up and found the same breakage.
those engines come with the PTS mustang trainer and we have a young fella just starting with his mustang, about 10 flights on it. If it goes dead stick in the air one day, we'll know what to look at.
