Well I'm going for sure, and I would highly recommend that all members do so as well. I don't know why Mr. Kennedy thinks the zone director should be removed, but I'm certainly going to find out.

Interesting. 22 Oct is a Saturday
I know that Regis has not always been timely in his responses to me, but he does answer
It would be unfortunate if the views of just one club impacted such a decision.
Curious to see what other club executives think (no don't comment here - not the right forum) -
I would strongly recommend representation from other clubs' Executive at this meeting - especially those that have dealt with Regis
Bring extra large Timmies, should be interesting

Currently the Maac by laws on the website do not have this sub section.
Failure to comply with MAAC By-Law 13{b}{ii}
Those on the site are dated December 2014. Not sure if there is a later revision.

With all the recent updates and changes to the MAAC site, how could there be a lapse in updating the basic Rules that the organization operates under...?
Next thing, I'll be hearing that the Safety Code has unprinted amendments..!
Oops, can't complain, lest the squeaky wheel gets tasked with the grease!

Verified!! By-Law 13{b}{ii} does not exist on the MAAC website and the version posted there is dated 11 Dec 2014. If in fact the by-law quoted does not exist, the Motion will be ruled out of order and motion dismissed.

I submitted a sheet with 10 proxies from HEFA members to Sandy today. I think he would like a few more prior to the 22nd. I'll have another sheet with me on Saturday (the 8th) if any other MAAC member wishes to sign.

What's MAAC regulation wrt Proxies? I was not able to find a limit, one person 10+ votes if he/she has 9+ proxies?
If so, Vic we should consider picking up proxies prior to the meeting from members unable to attend

My sheet sent to him contains signatures from 10 individual MAAC members along with their respective MAAC number.

In most organizations, one person can only hold and exercise one proxy. So one individual can't show up with a stack of proxy's, and block vote. That's the question I think, that needs to be answered. Also, rules usually stipulate that on the proxy form, there has to be specific instructions on how to vote on what issue, it's not always carte blanche to vote on everything anyway you happen to feel at the moment.

MAAC refers to closed proxy and open proxy which I assume stipulates all purpose proxy (open) and specific proxy (closed)
No mention of numbers
For zone members such as us, I assume every MAAC member can vote on motions (whether present or through Proxy?)

I don't know the wording as to proxies, but traditionally we always sought proxies for the annual zone meeting in order to get a quorum, as so few zone members attended. This year of course there's that motion.

Up here in Moncton, there's been some discussion of whether proxies are even allowed for the special motion. It's been suggested that only the votes of those present will count. Rumour & speculation - but some aren't taking any chances. Turnout for this meeting may be significantly higher than normal!

Hope so. Anyone who doesn't feel like attending, better not feel like bitching about MAAC!

UPDATE -
Record attendance - 30 members plus 163 proxies (quorum is 25)
While Reggie did maintain his position as Zone Director (ZD) for Atlantic Provinces, a few key points came across
1) For Elections of Zone Director or Deputy Zone Directors, names of volunteers or prospective candidates must be submitted minimum of 30 days prior to Zone Meeting 2) Annual General Meeting is taking place in Halifax next spring, unique opportunity to see MAAC national process at work 3) Prior to any key Zone motions to be brought forth to National, coordination with National should be done to ensure language in motion is accurate 4) MAAC members may contact various MAAC Committee members directly without going through ZD However, ZD should be copied on the email to make him aware 5) ZD was advised to request that national MAAC submits reasoning/rationale as to the "why" (to all members across Canada) when a Zone-submitted motion is defeated 6) More effort is required on national MAAC PR side. Unique opportunity with all drones being sold - good way to get young blood in 7) We're hoping to have MAAC provide a Transport Canada Drone regulation update in our next newsletter from our TC Advisory Group Member 8) Clubs need to forward dates of their Fun Flys as early as they can. Can be submitted as soon as yearly MAAC club dues are paid
Overall, excellent experience. Met many RC flyers from various clubs including some who come to our Fun Fly
Tks to those who provided their proxies.
Vic - did I miss anything?
PS: The drive back was a bi###! Intense rain with at least one car in median on its side and Emergency vehicles on site. 110 speed limit w everyone doing 80 with 4-way flashers

I'll just add one quick comment Marc. Regis did more than maintain his position as zone director, it was an overwhelming vote of confidence with a vote tally of 191-1 with ten abstentions.
