Attended meeting as did many of our members and others from regional clubs
First time the MAAC AGM has been in Halifax since I've been here (2003)
Very enlightening and also demonstrates that their scope is national and strategic in nature. Regional Coordinators have bigger part to play than I had initially thought
The executive are working with TC and are hoping that some upcoming changes to the new regulations will provide more flexibility
There is hope for events / location similar to the Slopefest,
Some of the options included making that site, a satellite field from a local club, that said members flying there would all need MAAC approval and a site assessment would have to be made. Also means that a local club would be responsible for that site and enforcing safety rules.

Excellent point mentioned by John F
MAAC members MUST SIGN the back of their MAAC membership cards.
Also, RC aircraft should have as a MINIMUM inside or outside the aircraft - Owner name, MAAC number and MAAC Link
Or if preferred, Owner name and contact info could be included (phone number and/or address) rather than MAAC number and link
A small mailing return label/business card glued inside or something similar

During discussions yesterday the outgoing maac President Roger Williams mentioned flying sites needing the permission of the owners to allow flying under the maac umbrella. Does anyone know who owns the slope fest site and how hard it would be to get ownership permission. With that permission it should be a cakewalk to get it set up as a satellite field of a club, or failing that get a one time event sanction as needed.
Another option would be forming a new club with the slope site as the club field. All that would take is three MAAC members to form the club. There'd be almost no cost, just twenty five bucks to register the field annually.

I am working on this as you speak! The land is park land and belongs to Natural Resources NS.
I'll update as I get response from the various players.
