Hi Im Graham, im new ish to RC and forums so hopefully i have got this right !
I live in Dartmouth right now but am moving to the passage in a couple months and am wondering if i should join up and come fly with you guys! im an aircraft tech by trade, and have started a very long slow painful balsa Cessna gasser ? (big) build as im new to wood working, so am having fun with flitetest foam board planes while the big plane build goes on in the background. My flying skills are reasonable for a beginner as im learning by crashing, nothing that hot glue and tape cant fix! hopefully by the time i finish my Cessna i will have some skills !
So i guess im a park flier? right now but would be interested in the indoor flying as well. I look forward to hearing from you and possibly coming along one day to see what your all about.
I have included a pic of one of my planes, i cant be picky about when i fly so dont mind snow and wind !
We have been flying in Shearwater for a few years now. We just started flying indoor on Sunday morning this past winter and it's a ball
We tend to fly indoors only when outside weather is adverse. This past Saturday was hands down one of the better days we've had.
We normally only fly weekends (to de-conflict with live military helicopter flights). Start at approx. 8 AM till noon or so, sometimes longer
You'll need a MAAC number to fly if you don't have one already ( secure.maac.ca/members/en/join.php ) Provides liability insurance and enables you to legally fly at any club.
Our Club has developed Flight Guidelines to keep our hobby fun while also safe (some of our club members have aircraft that are expensive and large/potentially dangerous). Flight Guidelines can be found here
We always post in Flying Section no later than the evening prior and again post early the morning of (always check for updates)
We also have instructors and planes (electric and nitro) so those who are interested don't have to invest (plane. transmitter, etc) until they are sure they will enjoy the hobby.
Registration applications can be found here along with cost (minimal)
Again, welcome aboard and hope to see you at the field on Saturday (weather permitting)
