All,
The Shearwater Aviation Museum and the CO of 423 (MH) Sqn are looking for help (volunteer) to make over a Sea King fibre Glass shell currently at home in the museum. The CO of 423 is looking to have it made into a wall hanger for the 423 "Archdale" Hangar. Dave Rowe did something very similar with a Sunderland 'flying boat' aircraft a few years ago. That model is hanging from the rafters in the new Cyclone 423 hangar. This Sea King model would hang there as well. There will be no RC electronics involved here just make it look like a current Sea King from 25-30 feet away. See the photo below as to what we have to work with. I would be willing to give someone a hand with this project but I just don't have the skills to work with fiberGlass and painting. Physical repairs and adding proper details to this model I could make happen.
Please pass this along to anyone you might think would be willing to give a helping hand. Christine Hines would be most interested in talking to anyone interested and giving them a personal tour of the model she has. she can be contact at Christine.Hines@forces.gc.ca or telephone 902 720 1083

Fiber Glass....what's that?
I'm willing to assist (and learn in the process), but I do not have the required knowledge or experience

I know nothing more than what I posted here and didn't have any more than 5 mins to discuss the idea with Christine on Wednesday. There will have to be a meeting with Christine / CO 423 to discuss details. There are no main blades for the shell so they will have to be created from scratch. the paint job on the model is not in the best condition and all antennae are missing(non existence) except the radar dome, so they will have to be created and attached. I'm not entirely such which configuration Sea King is requested (pre 1991/ Persian Gulf ver./ current configuration). We have access to all paint schemes thru the Museum so that will not be a concern.
Anyone else interested in spending a few hours now and again over the next few months to help put this together?

Any one can drop my the Shearwater museum and ask to see it. It is located in the back library on top of a book shelf.....By the way it was noted today that people didn't comprehend the size of the model....it is 3 1/2 to 4 feet long and approx 18" high. The rippling on the skin as seen in the second photo is so realistic to a real Sea King (124407) I want to keep it. The location and silhouette shapes of the windows and hand holds are not very accurate and it is missing several antennae that will be needed to be made to make it more realistic from 25-30 feet away. We may need to manufacture a SDS system if they want the current or Persian Gulf version of the model. (no problem there as I will be the expert in that department). Also we have a real Sea King sitting on the museum floor to copy from.
No one will ever be able to touch this once repaired (other to move it to it's final hanging place) so it does not have to be structurally strong, other than to be able to hang from the rafters of a hangar (and not allow parts to fall off).
