I picked up the P47 razorback from Maritime Hobbies (after dropping it on John Hatt's head . I have not built a wood kit in a decade lil rusty but it is like riding a bike. I will be taking the equipment ouf of my P51D (don't care for that version) for this build. I have the top of the fues and tail built. At this rate I should be done for the spring

A lot of fun but also requires pre-planning i.e. Sorting out what engine you need, where throttle whole should be drilled - all stuff I learned hard way

If you don't have the cockpit kit for it, I do! It's yours if you want. Also have a spare Razorback canopy you can have.

Thanks Dave, I was not planning on installing one as i didn t have it. I would need to cut out the installed decking and see about room for the gear.
I need to decide if I will glass this or use monocote/ultracoat covering.

Glass! I can show you how, if you haven't done before! There's tons of room for the cockpit, and all the gear, it's a big fuse, so highly recommend. Álso, the radial engine kit is a must. Not just for looks, but it's set up to funnel intake air around the engine cylinder.

You should pop over and take a look at my TF P-47, will give you an idea of the ton of room for things, and check out the extra accessories I've got. Might have another bonus item for you, and some cool ideas!!!

If you go monokote, you can of course paint over it, Leeann and I have had much success, using Benjamin Moore Aura water based exterior paint, then a clear coat of Americana. I've got a huge amount of FS matched RAF Grey and Green, and you can bring in the FS, RLM, etc number to Benjamin Moore, and they can mix, it's about $20 a quart. They also have extender to mix in with the paint, so you can spray it without clogging up!

Sorry for the lack of responses, been out of town for work.
Yes, Dave, I should pop over and take a look at yours. I will be glassing useing a waterbased resin. less fumes and easier to sand.
the build is not as clean as I like. While adding the H.stab top skin, the skin pulled the LE off and didn't see until too late. Has to cut off and add a new leading edge. Then I put a whole in the skin when I dropped stuff.
I am in the process of shaping the control surface LE's, I am using robart Pinned hinges instead of the ca hinges. I am also adding some 1/64 ply to cover the hing gaps.

Sound very similar to my experience! While I haven't worked on the P-47 for a while, if I even look at it, a hole appears in the thin sheeting! Doing the same thing, with hinges, and ply to cover the gap.

Slow progress but getting there. Have the fuse shaped and sheeted as far as possible untill more plumbing is installed. Attachments:

I was planning on a sport scale build. However, Dave supplied a cockpit kit, radial engine kit and drop tank. So, now I am doing flaps and a full build with retracts. I plan on doing a pacific p47.

Perfect! You gotta do the flaps, for sure, they're not difficult to build, and are very cool!

Started one wing and skinned the flap and aileron. Then worked on the cockpit and installed into the fuse. Also, worked on the radial. Attachments:

Haven't done much lately. Got the wing sheeted and started getting thing ready for all the plumbing. I am going with a servo for each aileron instead of the single. Also, for some reason they did fowler flaps. The jug didn't have that style so I am doing a more scale style. Attachments:
