Throttle on my Thunder Tiger Pro 46 engine refuses to close fully. It isn't linkage - I have the carb off the engine in my hand. Ideas anybody? Thanks.

Normally there should be an adjustment screw that allows for some fine adjustment

Normally there should be an adjustment screw that allows for some fine adjustment Concur there is a screw adjustment to set the closure of the throttle body. There is usually a tiny jam nut at the base of the screw to prevent vibration from moving the setting. It is extremely rare that this adjustment vibrates loose but verify if it has backed off.

There is, Marc, but the bind seems internal, i.e. the throttle rotor rotates to/from wide open but doesn't feel as free as it should and just refuses to go all the way to closed position. I'm wondering if some fuel residue or after run oil turned gucky over the winter? Possibility?

Ron,
Quite possible, You said you had the carb off....then wash it in some isoproyal alcohol. work the throttle open and closed a few times and it should free up quickly as the alcohol dissolves the gunk.

Also ensure that the groove is properly aligned with the carburetor screw

To make a long story short, I've completed my first ever carburectomy (I'm terrified of carbs) and the engine is running just fine. Thanks guys for offering suggestions along the way!

I'm glad the "caburectomy" was successful and that the patient is "purring" along
