Over the past several weeks it has been hard to find any 3d printer in stock and available to ship, the pandemic has scooped up all the printers for medical use.
Well I've pulled the trigger and purchased a 3D printer (Ender-5) today and now I'm looking to see where those of you that have 3D printers purchase your filament. I have heard some talk about poor quality of some sources for filament. I'm looking to get a roll of PLA, ABS and PETG, that should cover about 99% of all material types I will ever need to print whatever I can dream up. Thanks to Jim Haliburton I have online links coming out my ears for source files and things to print.
If anyone as a good source or recommendation for filament please let me know. I want to get an order in ASAP as I have only 2 weeks until my printer gets here.

Hi Kevin, so far I haven't had any problems printing with whatever I can find that is the cheapest PLA or PETG on Amazon. I haven't tried ABS yet. Eurekatec in Lower Sackville has PLA for $22 or less when it's on sale. www.eurekatec.ca/ I haven't tried they're other types. I've had success with Overture brand Petg on Amazon.ca. Just before Christmas they had a sale and I got a few rolls for $13 each, but it double that now. When it runs out I may try Amazon's brand, AMZ3D or AmazonBasics. Reviews seem to be good. I've found my printer very useful. I've been printing something new every few days. Airplane parts, household items, and RC car parts. Imagination never ends.

Thanks Bruce,
I immediately followed the link and checked out the website. Right now he has limited stock of all filaments with a lot of colours out of stock. But it is good to know that there is a local supplier at a cheaper price out there. From all the feedback I'm getting from everyone I'm quickly seeing moisture is the enemy of filament. I'm quickly looking at ways to ensure I can keep whatever I purchase dry.
Thanks for all the advise.
Kevin

Unbelievable, I logged back into Amazon today to check specs on the Ender-5 I purchased. I used the link on the email Amazon sent me yesterday after purchase so I could go directly to the listing. I couldn't believe it the seller had dropped the price by just over $150 + tax from yesterday to today. I immediately verified it was the same model and checked Amazon's policy for cancellation and was able to cancel the purchase. Prior to item being shipped there is no cost to cancel. I waited for confirmation and then re-purchased the exact same printer for ~$188 less. Boy I was lucky to notice this.
With that panic behind me I now know I have got a really good deal on the printer. Hope all goes well from now onward.

Wow, that was a lucky chance to get it for less. You are correct that filament is hygroscopic. Petg and ABS will absorb water quicker than PLA, although it depends on humidity. I've never had a problem with leaving PLA in the printer for weeks, but I always return the Petg to its ziplock bag when I'm finished with it. So far so good with doing this.

I'm in the process of assembling a dryer box to keep all my filaments stored in (with desiccant to remove moisture). You can buy them for hundreds of dollars or you can 3d print a few fittings and mod a plastic watertight container and keep your filaments permanently in the container. You just have to replace the desiccant once in awhile.
I'm really lucky to have caught that price drop.....just have to wait a week or two for the Credit card to get straightened out.
The Printer is on its way from BC and should be here by the middle of next week via Purolator. ( I Hope) as mail service is really sucking right now. I had a package clear customs and handed over to Canada Post but Canada Post sat on it for 4 weeks. 5 days to get from China to Canada and 5 weeks to be delivered from Toronto to Halifax to Hammonds Plains.
