I'm on a misiion to create the highest fidelity possible rendition for our field for use with Real Flight Simulator Ver 9.5.
That being said, I have a few questions/comments: - Has anyone attempted this before? If so, with what success? - As a panoramic image of the field is required, I'd like to obtain one asap using my Mavic Mini. (The Litchi app does that fairly well.) Ideally, the image should not be blurred by any moving objects, including members, vehicles, aircraft, etc. To accomplish this, how soon could I draw the keys so as to set up and complete the task before too many others arrive? - For the panoramic image, the drone is set to remain at an eye-level altitude (approx 6 ft AGL) at one of the pilot stations and slowly rotate while capturing multiple non-magnified images, which means nothing more of the base would be visible in the final image other than what we would normally be seen with the naked eye. Regardless, I need to be assured that I wouldn't be breaking any 12 Wing security regulations.
That's it for now. I'm sure I'll have more, assuming I'm cleared to proceed.
Thanks.
Tim

I have no idea of the security implications. but if staying at 6' shouldn't be any problems, as for drawing the key I would suggest Saturday and open the field before 0900 (ie 0800) so as to get your flight without other vehicles and people in the shot. post on the forum you are opening but suggest people don't enter the field until after 0830 or 0845 something like that. Sunday and Monday will be rain so that won't work for you.
My 2 cents

Thanks Kevin. I'll plan on being on site around 0800 in order to completie the image capture by 0830. Regarding the security implications, I realized that, in view of the abundance of past, SRCF YouTube videos, I shouldn't be overly concerned.

At this point, I still plan on being on site tomorrow around 0800 and completing my drone activity NLT 0830. The challenge afterwards will be determing the correct panorama format for import into RF, not an easy or straightforward process I gather. Any comments/assistance would be much appreciated.

Tim, perhaps you should give Al Eastman a call, he is Local Recognized photographer and Pilot, he may have do something similar since he uses sims as well. either way he may have some insights. Jack
p.s. he is the publisher of the local Atlantic maac newsletter/mag.

I have just uploaded the first edition of the SRCF airport at the RF 9.5 Swap Pages: See forums.realflight.com/index.php?resources/srcf-field_pi.29069/I'm curious to know how well it imports and works on member computers. You'll notice that the panorama isn't as clear and well-stitched as I would like it to be because I had to use the most basic Mavic Mini Litchi app, 22-jpg, panorama settings. It may be a memory issue. I could then import only the raw Litchi panorama, which explains why, if you look/fly straight up form the pilot position, you'll see the Litchi logo in the sky. The only collidable objects I added were the windsock, which of course can be adjusted, the pilot stations, and a few vehicles/RC aircraft. Eventually, I hope to improve the panorama and add some more objects. Thoughts/ideas would be much appreciated. Tim

Tim,
Do you need RF 9.5 to be able to use this? I'm running 6.5

Not sure if this procedure will work, but you can give it a try: - Download the SRCF RFX file to a suitanle location - Launch RealFlight, and use File | Import | RealFlight Archive (RFX, G3X) to load the RFX file - The SRCF photofield should now become part of the list of airports you can choose from the simulator Hopefully, it'll work for you. I have to re-install real flight as I formatted out my HDD a few months ago and haven't reinstalled it yet.
