With the cooperation of both the flying gods, and the COVID gods, Avon RC Fliers is hosting (finally) the third annual Ches Lockhart Memorial Scale Fly In! The event is August 27, 2022, with a rain date on August 28, 2022. . All planes must be a recognizable scale airplane. Gas, glow, electric, any size, all are welcome as long as they are scale. There will a Pilots' Choice vote for the BEST OF SCALE. There will be a BBQ. Rather than a landing fee, there will be a donation bucket just if front of the BBQ line up - donations greatfully accepted. If there are any Provincial COVID restrictions back in effect. they will be enforced. Please note we occupy Provincially regulated Marshland and NO overnight camping of any kind is permitted, whether tent, trailer or RV. We are located at #4499 Highway #14, past Daniel U-Pick and the winery. Flying starts at 9:00 Saturday, OR 10:00 Sunday. Please take note - This year we have corn planted around the runways. By the end of august it will be 8 - 10 ft (sigh 2.5 - 3.5 meters) high, and can be a problem for some heavier, faster planes. Take offs aren't the problem, but landings can be extended down the runways by a fair amount. Hope to see you there.......
We'll try to get Kevin and Steve cooking again....

I knew that was going to happen....the cooking I mean. Never make a great impression on hungry people
I still have left over water/pop and condiments from Fun Fly that can be used to support event (saving having to purchase more). All are in fridge chilling.

Glen and I flew today at AVIA, (no one else there!!!!!) and as it happens, the corn is not going to be any trouble this year. Last year we had 8 to 10 foot high corn, this year its really only 4 feet or so. My Ultimate is not lightly loaded at all, and if it can land here with no trouble (or if I can land here with no trouble) then most of our planes can handle the field nicely.
Next Saturday, the 27th, is the date for our Ches Lockhart Memorial Cup fly in. Come on out guys. Hoping for lots of fliers.
Food in abundance, (although Kevin IS slated to help with the cooking), drinks, fun, lies, all that good stuff.....

From Sandy:
Because of the wayward weather forecast for Saturday, with most models showing rain, and one or two showing lightening
We are executing the Rain Date.
AVIA, Sunday August 28th, flying starting at 10:00.
Sorry for the delay, but seems like the better idea.
See ya!
