Well long range forecast is showing snow for this coming Friday and maybe Saturday. It is time to winterize the field. Based on the same forecast it would be best to close the field down on Sunday 20th as it is looking like a good day for flying (cold but light winds)
We will need a few hands to help disassemble everything and volunteers to house planes and accessories (anything that freezing weather could damage). We'' need a ladder for the solar panels and basic tools (screwdrivers and wrench). then stack the tables.
It should not take more than 1/2 hr and we can fly after the work is done.
Let me know what you can house for the winter and if you plan on attending.

Hi Kevin, I can bring a step ladder and tools. However, I don't have much space for plane storage. What time do you want to start? Tim

If weather and winds co-operate I was thinking of opening around 0900 and by 0930 to 1000 be flying. With a 1/2 dozen+ people it takes 30-45 mins to disconnect and empty everything and then fill the sheds with whatever we can to protect it from the snow. Of course picnic tables and run-up tables will have to stay outside interlocked with each other but protected on one side by the sheds. All the tables will be held down with the steel rims for added weight.
I'll be taking the solar panels and lead acid batteries as I have a heated garage and they don't take up to much space. But like you I'm out of storage space for planes. my garage ceiling is completely full let alone walls with planes/wings everywhere.

Thanks Kevin,
For all to know there are three-four planes/wings and a few Lipos that all need a home for the winter. For the glow planes I want to take out the receiver batteries to test at my place as I own a digipace that can test NiMh/Nicad batteries for capacity. With being on the shelf for 3+ years they might be in need of replacement.

I can store a nitro plane and wing. I can store a transmitter box also. You keep the batteries from the nitro plane.

good stuff guys, I just need to know if we will have 1/2 dozen people or so out on Sunday.
I have the tools necessary to disconnect the car batteries and have a system to mark all the wires and where they go/come from. No power tools required just a couple screwdrivers and an adjustable wrench. I'll have all that.

Based on current forecast we still have a window Sunday morning to get the close-up completed without rain or snow. winds might be a little on the higher side but flying should be possible for those that want one more flight.
I'm bringing a plane and if I can't fly nothing lost.

Weather close-up complete all planes and items that could freeze have been removed.
See another thread for the list of who has taken what for winter storage.
