Hello all,
Well I followed Dave's advice and got the J-3 Piper Cub kit from Maritime Hobbies. I'm now looking forward to getting my garage setup and starting working on her...
So here is the question, open ended I know. Which type of glue should I get? Should I stick with just thin and thick CA, use epoxy, are there any applications for using traditional wood glue?
Just asking so I don't go buy stuff I'll never use.
Thanks!
John

Great news! Don't go the Coyote route with slow setting wood glue. It's super heavy, and takes forever to dry. For, firewall, landing gear mounting blocks, mounting blocks for struts, and any area of really high stress, 5 minute epoxy is more than enough. For tail feathers, CA for everything but attaching them to the fuse. Epoxy for glueing them to the fuse. For the wing, Medium CA will do everything, but the ply wing joiners, which should be epoxy. Note, the Goldberg Cub uses a lite ply fuse structure. It must be lightly sanded at all glue joints, or it's way too pourus, and thin or medium CA will soak in too fast, and leave a weak joint. Thick CA will be fine for that. So, a 2 oz thin, medium and thick CA bottles, and a tube of 5 min epoxy, and you're covered.

LOL!
Nothing wrong w wood glue, just took a little longer but my Goldberg cub (L4 scheme) is as tough as a tank and just as heavy - had to bump engine to a .91 four stroke

lol well tank-like structure is sometimes an advantage. I'd hate to get hit with your Cub!
