The knot in my stomach grew as I watched my Avistar 40 and it's wing detach in mid-air. The wing fluttered harmlessly to the runway seconds after the fuselage went nose-first and main-gear deep into a part of terra firma some distance away that was, fortunately, grass growing in soft, wet mud. After careful extraction by Wayne Jollimore, for which I am grateful, here is the mud-encrusted wreckage pretty well shattered almost back to the main gear ... Yes, there really is a Thunder Tiger 46 Pro under that muck!! Within a few minutes of recovery I received several assurances it was repairable and at least three offers of assistance with doing so. This club is the best!! After an evening and a bit in the skilled hands of aircraft surgeon, Dave Rowe, I think she's prettier than ever. Many thanks, Dave! You're one of the very best! So what did this embarassed student pilot learn? Add one more item to the pre-flight checklist... make sure you have installed MORE than enough elastic bands to accommodate unplanned adventures - in this case a fourth loop!

And Dave repaired this WHILE BUILDING 3 OTHER planes! Incredible! A MASTER at work. No use trying to grab the pebble, he's too good!
PS: Only older folks who used to watch the TV series Kung Fu will get the reference

Unfortunately, I'm working on 3 other planes, which means I have no idea what any of them will look like, given all the parts lying around. Your T-34 might look like it ran into an OV-10 Bronco, P-39, Zero, or Wildcat! lol

Aye Ron, she's a pretty lass, much prettier than before. That Dave character, he's a master!

It should go faster too, think I accidentally glued in some pieces from Jimmy's F-16 crash, couple of years ago.

The irony is it wasn't a shortage of elastics but just a failure to use enough. Six had proven sufficient for training flights up to the point and I had in my toolbox a whole box of Sig airplane elastics that came with the plane when I bought it from Keith Landra. Unfortunately I don't see anything in the fine print about how many one needs to do tight loops! Sig, being an American company, should understand when they hear from my lawyer!
