We will be supporting the hobby show and the request for space has been submitted. We will be located in the same location as last year.
Once we get closer to the weekend we will be creating a schedule for members to man the tables.

No commitment here but the museum is looking for some additional help on the setup side of things for the Hobby Show. They have a truck scheduled thru the base to go to Willow park on The Thursday prior to pick up additional tables for the show and drop them off at the Sea King club. one or two additional people would make light work of this. That would be in the morning 0800-?? More importantly if anyone could help out on Friday morning to set these tables into place before vendors arrive around the 2pm time frame would be extremely helpful. again this would be 0800- until complete. the four of us that Christine have all have back or knee/leg problems and is very hard on us. Any help would be most welcome and appreciated. If you would like to give a helping hand just drop me a note here and I'll give you all the details. or send me a PM here on the forum.
Thanks

The Shearwater Hobby Show is scheduled for April 13-14, 2019, at the Sea King Club (242 Warrior Avenue) at Shearwater. This is running from 10am - 4pm each of these two days with setup Fri afternoon. Shearwater participation in this event was discussed during our annual meeting in Feb. Membership was reminded that we need active military members for this club to thrive and take advantage of our 10K feet runway. We are fortunate as we have the opportunity to share the workload, camaraderie and enthusiasm of this great hobby with our friends at HEFA. We hope to be sharing a table to present our models. This is a great opportunity to support the museum, to get to better know members of both of Shearwater and HEFA while potentially enticing new members to join the hobby in a safe and rewarding manner. Bring along a few models and your enthusiasm of the hobby! Please let us know if you are interested in participating. Let us know your availability and we will revise this posting with potential people / times to help staff the booth. Ideally, a 3 hour slot would be preferred but any amount of time would be appreciated. Many hands make light work. Saturday 13 April 10am - 1pm: Kevin McKay 10am - 1pm: Vic Ruzgys1pm - 4pm: Don Willets1pm - 4pm: Wayne JollimoreSunday 14 April 10am - 1pm: Eric Tremblay10am - 1pm: Kevin Baker
1pm - 4pm: Vic Ruzgys 1pm - 4pm: Kevin Baker
1pm - 4pm: Kevin McKayIf you want to change the times listed I can do that, just reply to this post. I can also add additional slots if more people want to help out. If you have nice models that could be displayed, electric to nitro, gas, please let us know. We again are also recommending that each model have a 3x5 card outlining following info P47 Owner/builder Name i.e. Stan Lee Kit by: i.e. Great Planes Engine: i.e. 20CC Gas engine Additional Notes/ History of Model i.e. Kit was built over 2017-2018 winter. Took 18 hours to complete.
Just reply to this thread with date and times you would prefer and the admins will update the schedule.

Kevin you can put me in where & when ever you see fit. Just let me know what day & time. Also, do we have room for my big space shuttle. It's a little over 5ft long, wingspan about 4ft.

Gents,
I will be assisting with the set-up in Shearwater on Friday morning. I will also man the tables on Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon. Afterwhich, I will assist with tear-down after the show closes on Sunday.
Kevin, if you still need a body to assist on Thursday morning, let me know.
I have the club banner and the table cloth. I will be bringing John Forsythe's giant scale P-47 and a couple of small indoor models of mine for display.

Hello; As far as I know I am available to assist for either day. Let me know what you wish me to do. As I am still a "working stiff", I unfortunately couldn't give a hand setting up. I should be available for dismantle. Regards Kevin Baker

But we only have 6 tables 6-8' long and we are sharing them with HEFA so we won't have that kind of space for the shuttle. I would love to see it but it is just too big. Also the hobby show is fully booked for vendors with every inch occupied. There is also a wait list for vendors so there is no way we could get the raised platform. I've been talking to Christine and put a flea in her ear that we have out grown the Sea King club and need to look for a bigger venue. That leaves only the Arena or the Hangar floor down at 5 Bldg on the lower Base. I hope next year the show moves to a larger area.

We now just need two people for Sunday Morning Shift and were covered. Also we need to know what everyone is bringing so we know if we have the room to display everything. I'm bringing only "NEMO" , a micro SE5A and a couple small Rockets, all that will only take up 1/3 of a single table.

Don,
With all the members attending/working the Spring Hobby show the Sunday morning indoor flying may not happen on the 14th. Unless you want to stay the entire morning as the member of SRCF's so as to allow other clubs to attend.
There must be at least one member from SRCF at the indoor in order for any other club to fly there.
Let me know so that I can post that the indoor is a go or no go.

Anyone else want to help out with the last spot for Sunday? We can go with what we have but more is always better .
Setup and drop off of display aircraft can happen starting Friday afternoon and evening, with last minute setup happening early Saturday morning. Show will start at 10 am Saturday.
Hope to see everyone this weekend.
