I have been noticing that the roof of the wooden shed at the field is in need of a new roof (shingles) especially the south facing side. I took out some used shingles last month to see if that could patch it up for awhile, but on closer inspection they aren't going to cut it. I've did a little looking online and a pack of basic 3 tab asphalt shingles covers 32+ sq ft and sells for about $38 + tax. I haven't measured the shed but I believe we are looking at about 4-5 packs to cover one side. we wouldn't need to remove the old shingles and could just nail new ones over the old shingles and could have it done in a couple hours.
Thoughts for spending the funds? based on much lower cost of table replacements we have 700-800 dollars of savings that could be used for this project.

I think you will be making a big mistake by not taking off the old shingles. A couple of flat shovels and the old roof will come off easy. If somebody has a roll of tar paper for the roof, that would be great. New shingles on a flat surface, with winds the shed endures there, will stay on better than over old loose shingles. Why do this over again in a year or two? Just a thought.
