As most of you now know with you receiving the email this morning from MAAC. The club has to re-submit alot of documents before we fly in the spring. I have spent the day today with president Kevin Campbell re-writing and updating our club rules and SOPS. we also have to resubmit GPS coordinates for pilot stations and Google maps captures as to the layout and orientation of our field with access and fly/no-fly areas. This was an all day affair due to our documents had to be updated to reflect current MAAC/transport Canada latest rules and restrictions. In the email you received today there was also a plan on re-approving clubs on a one on one basis back to flying status with a priority approach. unfortunately we are at the bottom of the pack due to being located on an airdrome so our approval will be later in the winter along with 71 other clubs across Canada. the sooner we get this paperwork submitted the sooner our approval to recommence flying will happen.
As updates are received the Executive will post to keep you all updated.

I have not renewed my 2023 MAAC insurance card because of the email and snail mail I received last year. I want to take this time to thank both Kevin’s for their work trying to comply with the new MAAC guidelines. I am sure the wait time will be worth it. Thanks again. John

The other Kevin (president) had a talk with Cato today. things are better than my first post above. Cato says because we are military and normally have all our ducks in a row (located on a military airdrome) once our paperwork is received and reviewed we might just be cleared to fly sooner rather than later. (fingers crossed) We did find out that all clubs have lost any altitude exceptions and everyone is reset back to 700' and will have to re-submit a waiver again. apparently Shearwater may have had a 1500' waiver, unknown to me. But that is mute now as everyone is back to 700.......A new waiver will be re-submitted with our paperwork.

Kevin 1500ft would be most unlikely 1200ft would be what we should shoot for, most transient Aircraft would be at 1200-1500ft over our zone and would be a better target to shoot for..

we've been told that 1500' is the max that will ever be authorized so we are asking for that and take whatever we can get. The jet guys need the room to turn around.

The Club Executive had a meeting with PSP this morning trying to figure out the existence of the club. We came out of the meeting with more questions than answers. Since then Cato has been able to shed some light on our status and is having a meeting tomorrow with MAAC executive and passing along our questions. The club executive will be meeting in a few days to go over the points and our options, Without firm confirmation of our plan I can't release any info. But Shearwater will be open for business this summer.

I took the basic drone test yesterday and It wasn't too bad. Open the necessary documents and remember google knows most of the answers and you will do fine. Sucks but We all need it now.
