Tomorrow (25 Jan 23) I will be going with Christine Hines from the Museum to check out the "Sea King Club" and see if it will be able to host a Spring hobby show this April. If it turns out that if it will be a go it will most likely be a reduced version of previous years due to Covid and now that the mess is a combined mess with Officer/ SNCM and Junior NCMs all under the one roof, space will be an issue. The mess in conjunction with the Wing Commander will make a final call if they will approve the event. When I find out more I will post.

We was not able to get to the Sea King Club Wednesday as the mess manager was not in that day. Christine was to go on Friday but I was not able due to eye exam. Wednesday when I go to the museum I should get an update and will post if the Museum Spring Hobby Show will happen.

Was at the museum today and talking to Christine. the Sea King club will be able to host a reduced version of the Spring Hobby Show but it cannot host 105 vendors as previous years without reductions in the amount of tables each vendor can have . That doesn't work for some ie the model railroaders and the home made dolls. So Christine is working to see how she can make it work with the limitations she has.

I was informed by Christine at the museum today that the Spring hobby show is most certain to happen this year at the Sea King Club. Due to a couple large vendors not attending there will be little or nothing for reduced table amounts for those attending. She has confirmed our normal corner in the Ashley lounge where we have been setup for years. The closest electrical outlet is only about 25 ft away nice and close for an extension cord if we need power.
The only thing I don't have is the Date, it should happen mid April. I'm guessing 15-16 april...but hat is to be confirmed.
More to follow as I get details.

We have a final date (15-16 April) 10am to 4pm each day. I now need to know who would like to display a plane or two so I know how many tables to request....we can have up to 5 tables if space/number of vendors permit. I have already talked to Christine a few weeks ago and we will be getting our normal corner in the Ashley lounge.
I'll need intentions by 8 March ( a week from this coming Wednesday) so I can submit the request to participate. By the time of the hobby show we should have more up-to-date info on Transport Canada and flying this year.
Please let me know here on this thread if you want to help out and man a table for a couple hours and display any planes.

Greetings All:
(Apologies for cross-postings, we are trying to ensure maximum dissemination of information, and your name may appear on more than one mailing list.)
Happy News! We’re Back! 12 Wing Shearwater has allowed the return of our Annual Spring Hobby Show!
The purpose of this email is to invite you and/or your group back to participate in the 22nd Annual Spring Hobby Show, which will be held at the Sea King Club, 242 Warrior Avenue, Shearwater, from 10 AM - 4 PM on Saturday & Sunday the 15th and 16th of April 2023. You'll recall from last year that the location is very close to the museum, just past the main gate at Shearwater, on the left.
The show continues to be a major fundraiser for the museum, with all show proceeds being donated to the museum to assist with exhibit and restoration activities, which is crucial after 2.5 years closed. General show information will be uploaded in the coming week on the museum's new website at www.shearwateraviationmuseum.ca
The show, as always, will be an eclectic, multi-discipline event featuring Model Aircraft, Armor, Ship, Automotive & Science Fiction subjects; Model Railway layouts; Dolls & Dollhouse Miniatures; Radio Control Ship & Aircraft Models; Lego displays; various Enactor groups; special interest hobbyists; a Trade Fair; and much, much more for a total of approximately 140 sales and exhibit tables. We definitely have something to offer for everyone and an ideal opportunity to showcase your hobby. Please note that table requests are on a first-come first-served basis, and we have capacity for only 140 tables. I will have a waiting list available.
The Sea King Club will be open from 1 - 9 PM Friday, April 14th, and from 8 - 10 AM Saturday April 15th for exhibitor and vendor setup. Exhibitors and vendors are expected to remain "setup" until 4 PM on Sunday. That said, it is recognized that some out of town exhibitors or vendors, who might otherwise wish to participate in the show, may not be in a position to stay through until Sunday. On a case by case basis, and by prior request, it may be possible to make arrangements for Saturday or Sunday only participation.
PLEASE NOTE: There will not be a plastic model contest held this year, unfortunately.
“The Fine Print”: Safety: While the event has been given permission to resume, Covid safety is still a concern. We will have hand sanitizer available throughout the facility, and encourage exhibitors and visitors to use due diligence and practice any personal safety protocols you wish in this group setting. Masking is optional.
Security: This is a Department of National Defence installation, and our visitors and participants are subject to all DND/CAF security protocols.
Those wishing to participate in the show may do so either by booking free "display only" tables to showcase their hobby, or by renting trade fair tables at a cost of $25.00 each to buy, sell or trade personal items. However, it should be noted that space for tables is very limited. In addition, each year sees greater and greater demand for tables/display space. As a consequence it is anticipated that clubs and groups will be restricted in the number of exhibit tables to five (5). This could vary a bit depending on table demand which won't firm up until a couple of weeks or so before the show.
Exhibit tables are on average 4 or 5' ft long and 30" deep. All exhibitors and vendors are expected to provide table cloths or other suitable coverings to dress and drape their tables in order to create a professional look. Floor space and/or display and sales tables must be booked in advance. To make reservations, or if you have any questions at all, please fill in the attached registration form and email it to Christine Hines, SAM Curator at office@shearwateraviationmuseum.ns.ca or call 902-720-1083.
Many thanks for your interest and continuing support of the Shearwater Aviation Museum! Please contact me if you’d like a digital copy of the show poster to share around. Any and all help would be very much appreciated in order to get the word out on your club social media platforms.
We hope that you can join us! There is no show without you, our incredible exhibitors, and we sincerely hope that we’ll see you once again!
Best regards,
Christine

Kevin, I can help out one or both days, and bring one or more of my Habu, Apprentice, UMX Radian, Corsair, Mavic Mini, whatever you consider appropriate. I can also bring my laptop/RF 9.5 simulator and monitor depending on the space available and access to power. Tim

As I get more feed back we'll see what we have for space and assortment of planes available and we'll finalize a plan.
Thanks Kevin

The Spring hobby show is 100% confirmed and we have the normal corner in the lower back corner of the lounge of the Sea King Club as before. we will need a 25 ft extension cord if we need power and table cloths to cover the tables. Other than that we need to come up with what we want to display (selection of planes). I'm currently 3D printing up some give aways for the show.

Anyone free for 6 hours (10AM-4PM) either on the 15th or 16th of April to help man the tables at the Sea King club? OR any shift you would like? If we are only a couple we need to spell each other off for lunch and bathroom breaks etc.
