Guys and Gals, After a conversation with John O'Sullivan, Sunday as to a field that we used to fly at in past summers, when soccer was the norm at Shannon Park. This Ball field is adjacent to Leons in Burnside, and we used to fly small electrics, foamies and the like. The Question John had was it very close to the Burnside jail, and was probably out of bounds for RPAS flights(foamies) due to closed Prison airspace. Not so, after some Emails to RPAS Wilco and the MAAC airspace guy, this is not restricted Airspace. I was trying to post some images here of the RPAS airspace over the said area but was unable to post those pics. So if you Fly a Foamie under the new regs Here is a promising Field. Jack

According to AIRMAP, it's good to go! Just have to stay 30+m away from any onlookers. And, for sub 250g, no license required. IMHO Tim

Would we still require land owner approval? "a Land Use agreement" of some sort?

IF you plan to fly as MAAC pilot, the site would need to be approved by MAAC , at the rate they are going , it will be 2999

Looking at the size of that field, you probably have a 15' wide strip about 100 foot long that you can fly in. If you can get written permission....

The Ball field is maintained by the city parks dept, and past years Tom would talk to the supervisor re the Grassed area to the North of the Diamond, soon after they erected the Rugby posts, just suggesting its a foamie field at best, for occasional use under the RPAS rules. Any use under these rules would probably a conversation with the city parks.
