I met with Kevin M. April 5, 2023 at Shearwater Museum to return a club plane and transmitters that I had stored over the winter months. We then went to a local coffee shop and discussed the issues surrounding this “ C.F.” that both Kevin’s are facing and trying their best to untangle and forward info to all concerned. As Kevin M. has been posting on this forum, he is doing, in my opinion, a fantastic job. He explained several of the various meanings of the shortened terms being posted. The men that own and fly turbines are having to jump through hoops that haven’t been explained on this forum. I learned a lot from Kevin yesterday and am baffled by his determination to help all of us. Other people may have done a better job but where are they? I am still neutral on things. THANK YOU KEVIN FOR EVERYTHING YOU HAVE DONE AND WHAT YOU CONTINUE TO DO FOR THE CLUB. I think when everything is said and done, we should take the two Kevin’s to a local pub and belly up to the bar and buy these guys a beer!

Thanks for the words of encouragement John, But I'm just trying to navigate how we can get back to business pre-exemption withdrawal. We (SRCF club) are compounded with issues by being a Military club and have to dance to two masters. (MAAC/TC and Military).
Fingers Crossed we will survive.

I was just reading about Tethered Drones on an AIM and they were talking about a Quadcopter hovering and being powered by a tether . this is not Control Line .

I agree Richard,
BUT prior to the new AIM 2023-1 release in January there was. Control line was classified as a RPAS prior to January of this year according to Transport Canada AERONAUTICAL INFORMATION MANUAL (AIM). TC updated AIM and added that one sentence to exclude control line aircraft. That shows me I don't trust information MAAC gives me without researching it in TC regs myself.

I couldn't remember where I got that previous copy of the AIM but found it today. MAAC had emailed that OLD copy (2021-2 RPA) to us all on 4 March as study material for our Pilot certificate test. The new version became active on 23 March 2023.

Received a call from our new Zone director today, both Kevin Campbell and I were at the Shearwater museum at the time and we discussed what is happening with MAAC. the purpose of the call was to get our Porter's lake site (Vic's winter fun fly location) approved for flight. They didn't know Vic doesn't own the property and that I had deactivated that site on the MAAC website back in Feb. As to controlled airspace any approval/exemption is looking like winter 2023 until spring 2024, if an exemption is even possible. So on that note Shearwater is confirmed closed for flying this year and we will have to see what happens this Fall in the line of any exemption.
