Hi folks -
Welcome to the 2022 flying season
If you're like me and have not flown since pandemic began then I would highly recommend putting in a little sim flying time on your computer before flying your RC aircraft for first time. Also go over your aircrafts with a fine tooth comb triple checking everything. This may save you some frustrations and ease your transition safely.
Please keep in mind the following:
- MAAC Cards. I will be checking all flyers for their MAAC cards (just once) for those flying. Members and visitors MUST HAVE VALID MAAC membership. Keep your card or MAAC number handy or in glove box of vehicle. This is a requirement for all flyers residing in Canada regardless of nationality.
- RC Aircraft Identification. As a minimum your RC aircraft must have a label that includes MAAC number, and link to the club's website and the MAAC phone number or your cell number. More info here.
- Pit Area. No flying over the pit area (behind pilot stations or where cars are parked). Drone flights may be approved on a case by case basis for club purposes. All members will be advised.
- No taxing of RC aircraft in Pit Area. No taxing of RC aircraft in pit areas or vicinity of tables or when folks are present in the pit.
- Aircraft Maidens. Have a qualified pilot or instructor (a "buddy") go over your plane if performing a maiden (aircraft first flight). Let club members know it's a maiden BEFORE you fly.
- Flight Problems. If you're having inflight problems or get into trouble, PLEASE let someone know, 2 pairs of eyes are better than one
- Crossing or stepping on runway. If you're about to "step on runway" or "cross the runway" during flying activities, you are required to call out "On Runway" first and WAIT for acknowledgement by all pilots. Then once clear of runway, state so (i.e. "Clear")
- Safety Rules. Please go over all our club safety rules Flight Safety Guidelines before this season to ensure that we all stay safe while enjoying this great hobby Safety First
Have fun but STAY SAFE!!!!!
